Investment Approach Point Judith invests in companies that meet defined and measurable requirements. Companies seeking investment should expect a rigorous due diligence process that includes assessment of the management team, market opportunity, and business model. As a close-knit partnership we have the ability to move quickly on opportunities, though it is not uncommon for the due diligence process to last two to four months. We then design the appropriate financial and legal structure for each particular investment. Throughout the process, we strive to provide value to prospective portfolio companies by adding our advice as well as access to our network of resources and strategic partners. Deal Sectors and Size We focus our investment activity in communications, information, Internet, and healthcare technologies. The Fund prefers to invest in the first institutional round of financing for a business, with appropriate capital reserved for future rounds as the company grows. We seek to invest $3-6 million in each company and prefer to coinvest with other quality venture capital firms or entrepreneurs, frequently assembling a syndicate of investors. We use these networks to source, evaluate, and add value to companies throughout the investing process. Partnering With Quality Coinvestors The nature and composition of the East Coast venture market is such that other quality venture capital firms are typically regarded as partners, not competitors. Point Judith Capital has been successful in working with other firms as coinvestors in institutional financing rounds. The principals of Point Judith Capital have strong relationships with a number of venture capital firms in the area, as well as excellent ties to other venture capital firms throughout the U.S. |
